My paintings, oil or acrylic, mostly fall into two categories: those done directly from life, through careful observation of the landscape, and figure compositions, usually based on drawings from imagination. Drawing is important in my work, as is color.
Recurring themes in my figure compositions include The Dance, Music, and memories from Iran.
I enjoy painting quickly and freely, and for now, a major issue is when to stop working.
Growing up in Brooklyn, I studied Art at Queens College, where I met my Iranian-born husband. We moved upstate to paint landscape. In 1991, we moved to Iran. I learned Farsi, continued painting. My painting was selected for the Second Biennial in the Tehran Museum of Modern Art, and I was hired to help open a Fine Arts Department in an Iranian university, teaching my classes in Farsi. In 2007, I returned to the Hudson Valley and am a member of The National Association of Women Artists, The Woodstock Artists Association, and Museum and Arts Mid-Hudson.
